Does Choteau have a Curfew?

Yes. Sunday night through Thursday night the curfew is from 10:30 PM to 5:00 AM.  Friday and Saturday nights the curfew is from Midnight to 5:00 AM. Choteau City Code Section 4-5-1. 

Does Fairfield have a Curfew?

Yes. Sunday night through Thursday night the curfew is from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.  Friday and Saturday nights the curfew is from 12:00 AM Midnight to 6:00 AM.  Fairfield Town Code 9.6.

Are fireworks legal in Choteau?

Yes. For the period of July 1 through July 4 of each year, fireworks can be set off within the city limits from 11:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M. each day except July 3 and 4 when the time limit shall extend to 2:00 A.M the following morning.  For the period of December 31 from 6:00 P.M. to 2:00 A.M.  Choteau City Code 6-4-2.

Are Fireworks legal in Fairfield?

Yes.  For the period of July 1 through July 5 between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 12:00 A.M. Midnight.  This pertains to legal class fireworks.  There are to be no fireworks on public streets or grounds.  If the Fire Department is called, there will be a charge. Fairfield Town Code 9.2. 

What is the Courthouse ANNEX Building and where is it located?

The ANNEX building houses the offices of the Teton County Attorney, EMS and DES Coordinators, Planning and Rural Addressing Coordinator, County Sanitarian, and the Weed District Foreman.  The ANNEX building is also used as the meeting place for the Veteran's Administration.  It is located directly behind the "Old" and new sheriff's offices.

What are the visiting hours for the jail?

Visiting hours at the Teton County Sheriff's Office Detention Center are made by appointment only.  You may call 406-466-5781 to schedule an appointment.  If we are housing an inmate at the Pondera County Jail, their visiting hours are Monday and Friday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and Wednesday night from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

If we are housing an inmate at the Chouteau County Jail, their visiting hours are on Monday, Wednesday, Saturday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

What should I do if I see a crime occurring?

First call 911 or our office immediately at 466-5781. 

There are several other things you can do:

  1. Be a good witness and be observant.
  2. Are there any weapons involved?
  3. What is the address?
  4. What are the physical characteristics of the person(s) involved?
  5. What type of clothing are the persons involved wearing?
  6. How many people are involved?
  7. Is a vehicle involved?  If so, what color, make, model, and license plate number? 

Can I report a crime or suspicious activity anonymously?

Yes.  When you report a crime, simply state that you would like to remain anonymous.
